Who is the Summer Camp for?21 Club summer camp is exclusively for children with DS and their families.

How many people will be camping?We have allocated 100 tickets for the summer camp and feel this is the right number for the size of the site and the activities planned.

Are food & drinks included in the price?YES! All healthy meals, snacks and soft drinks are included in the ticket cost, download a sample menu here.

Can we play loud music?During the daytime, yes, however, all music needs to be turned off at 10pm as the campsite is close to residential property.

Do parents/carers need to attend?Yes! There needs to be at least one parent per DS child.

Do I need to be with my child at all times?Your child is your responsibility and as such you need to be aware of your child's location at all times. 21 club takes care to ensure the camp and activities are safe, but parents/carers must assume responsibility for their own child/children’s safety at all times. You can pre book GEO TAG tracking devices for the duration of the camp. Please contact info@21club.co.uk to request more information.

Are dogs allowed?By prior arrangement only. Some of our children are scared of dogs and so this may not be possible. Please email info@21club.co.uk for more details.

What happens if it is raining?Many of our activities can continue if participants are dressed properly. Our instructors will assess the activities in adverse weather conditions and if there are safety reasons why an activity cannot continue, we reserve the right to find a suitable alternative or cancel the activity. Groups should make sure they are dressed for the weather conditions.

Where do we go for activities?For instructor led activities, please meet your instructor at the activity. For Self Led activities, please arrive at the Activity Office 10 minutes before your activity is due to start. Here you will be able to collect any equipment as well as Activity Guidelines. Should you have any questions please speak to the someone in the Activity Office.

What do I need to bring?Here’s a link to the kit list with suggested equipment and utensils which will make your stay more enjoyable.

Can I buy alcoholic drinks on site?Over 18s will be able to purchase tokens on-site which can exchanged for refreshments during camp.

Are tents and camping equipment provided?The ticket price does not include camping equipment, if you need a tent, roll mat or sleeping bag you can book one (only in advance) by emailing info@21club.co.uk

What is your policy on smoking and drinking?21 Club supports the right to smoke free camping. Whilst we understand people have the right to smoke, we recognise people have a choice. We also acknowledge that non-smokers have right and choices. All buildings and activity areas are smoke-free zones and people should be actively discouraged from smoking around young people.

Are we allowed to have open fires on site?Only BBQs for cooking on provided by camp staff and the main fire pit area are to be used for open fires. These are only to be lit by camp staff and looked after by the designated on duty fire marshall.

Do you have washing up sinks?Washing up sinks are located next to both site toilet blocks. Please do not wash up inside the toilet blocks. You are only required to wash up your own plates, cutlery and utensils.

Is the water at Fairmead suitable for drinking?There are taps with drinking water situated throughout the site, the location of these is clearly marked on the centre map. Please encourage your group to respect the area around the taps and not to leave them running. Water inside the toilet blocks is not suitable for drinking.

Do you have a freezer?Yes, there is a freezer outside next to the kitchen.

What should we do with waste?All rubbish should be taken to the bins located in the Main Car Park. All rubbish is collected and sorted for recycling by our waste contractor.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?Sure, however, please be aware that the kitchen and fridges/freezers are only to be used by camp staff and cannot accommodate parents/carers wanting to keep food chilled or cook/heat up their own food without prior arrangement.

Is there somewhere to charge mobile phones whilst onsite?Yes, you can charge mobiles and tablets in the main hut at your own risk.

Do you have electric car chargers onsite?No. We do not have electric car chargers.

Is there WiFi onsite?Yes, there is a reliable WiFi within close proximately to the main hut.

Is there a charge for parking my vehicle on-site?We have free on-site parking available.

How do I find Fairmead campsite?Fairmead Scout Campsite Church Road High Beach Essex, IG10 4AJ Nearest public transport: Train station: Chingford London Underground station: Loughton Gilwell Park: 1 1/2 miles walk or 10 minutes' drive

What taxi companies are local?Station Cars, Cuffley on 01707 876401. There is also a Taxi rank at Cuffley Station but there are only taxis there during peak times.

What happens upon arrival at Fairmead Campsite?A warm welcome awaits you. Upon arrival please go to the Activity Office to confirm your arrival and check in.

What time should we arrive/leave the campsite?You can arrive anytime after 12pm on Thursday 15th Aug and depart anytime before 5pm on Sunday 19th.

Will vehicles be allowed access to our campsite/building?Vehicles containing your Group’s main camping equipment will usually be granted access directly to the area where you are staying, however at busy times or during poor weather this may not always be possible. If this is the case we generally offer trailer runs to assist with the moving of heavy equipment. Please take your vehicle(s) to your campsite/building only once you have obtained the express permission of the Duty Manager. After you have unloaded, all vehicles should be returned to the car park.

What do we do when we are ready to depart?Please notify the camp staff approximately 30 minutes before you leave to arrange a campsite inspection. Please ensure that you have checked your site for litter and rubbish has been put in the skip. Any equipment hired from 21 Club should be returned.

We have a person attending with additional needs. What suitable facilities do you have?Fairmead campsite has an accessible toilet. Please ask at reception for the access codes for the rooms in the toilet block buildings. Site visits for familiarisation or to assess activities for suitability are available on request - please contact us by email or phone to discuss. Where practicable, adjustments to activities can be made. Please contact us to discuss individual requirements with appropriate instructors. In some cases this may result in more suitable activities being suggested. Assistance dogs are welcome on site.
